When you are truly living your personal brand it is as if there is an unbreakable thread connects who you are, your business and the expression of both, into your brand. You recognise the power of being yourself in all contexts and commit to living this truth authentically every day and in every way.

You know who you are and where you’re going

What are your biggest ambitions and goals? How do you ultimately envision your life? Consider what you want from a variety of angles, including your business, family, friends and anything els that you want more of in your life. If you’re feeling stuck,try the Be, Do, Have & Feel exercise.

Look at your vision or goal; your life as it stands and your story until now. What are the values that that have driven you to this point? And what do you need more of in order to get you to where you’re going? Define your value system by looking at what is most important to you, your character, and living fully. This is your position, your personal point of view.

So, when you understand your position and where you want to go, you feel connected to your purpose. It allows you to be clear on your point of view regardless of concept or context.

You believe your business is an extension of you

Essentially this means that what your business achieves, you achieve; if your business makes a decision, you are making a decision. If it hires or fires someone, adds a new product line or commits to a partnership, its not some engine you have no control over, but you. You are your business.

By recognising this, you will begin to see it is a vehicle. It will either get you to where you want to go or it will take you somewhere you never planned to be. By staying true to who you are in your business, you harness immense power that will drive your towards your ultimate vision.

You express your brand authentically across all touch points

The first two parts, who you are and your business form the foundation for your personal brand. This next layer, your personal brand, is the expression of this integrated life. It must positively amplify who you are and what you do in a way that gets you to where you want to go.

This expression comes through in the creative execution of your brand. Your logo, website, your profile or head shots, what you wear, your style, the colours you choose, the way your speak, the way you interact and care for others and in the way you operate within your business.

With clarity on your point of view, you are able to create an authentic brand that positively amplifies what you are about, no matter the context.

Define who you are, what you want and how you are going to get it. Next, recognise that it is all a singular point of view, one position, one brand that you have complete power over. When you put yourself out there with an authentic expression of who you are across all these contexts, you are truly living your personal brand.
